Welcome

Since the 1990s, the Crisp Gateway to the Hunters Point Shipyard has been closed. Within a few years, the Crisp Gateway will be reopened. The Bayview’s Third Street corridor is quickly renewing itself as a place where community members dine, shop and run errands. A place that is as much about family as the economic viability of the community. Since the 1990s, Third Street has been the main thoroughfare for auto and truck traffic from northbound US 101 and the Hunters Point Shipyard and to the South Basin industrial area.

Plans are nearly complete to find a new route for trucks and autos. The City and County of San Francisco has been teaming with the Bayview/Hunters Point (BV/HP) community to find the best solution in a project called the Bayview Transportation Improvements Project.

The purpose of the project is to develop a more direct auto and truck route between U.S. 101 and the redeveloped Hunters Point Shipyard and to the South Basin industrial area, and to reduce through truck traffic on Third Street and east-west residential streets.
